Citizen's Academy part II

Ok, so if I didn't get my respect for just how much damage a gun can do, I think I have it for sure now...last night we had our section on Crime Scene Investigation...They showed us pictures of actual crime scenes...One was a murder/suicide...the husband's (shooter) head was practically gone...just a concave section of where his head used to be...Lesson Learned: Never play with firearms unless you know how to use them!

On a positive note: Tyler's birthday is about a month away and I can't beleive how fast time goes. He is going to be 4 and it seems like just yesterday he was born! He is now into SpiderMan...no more baby stuff...we on onto big boy toys now! So, we are going to have a SpiderMan birthday party...It has been hard to get into all the boy stuff. I am such a girly girl...Ally's parties are easy...all pink and princess. Tyler I have to bring out the inner tomboy that doesn't seem to exist...:(

Well, a bad storm sounds like it is blowing in and really windy...time to sign off.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all my favorite Moms out there!

Police Academy

Last month I started the Citizen's Police Academy for the Greeley PD to learn more all the different departments. I also thought it would help me understand what I can to do help meet the needs of the department. Well, last week was the BEST WEEK EVER!

The first couple of weeks we learned about the traffic unit, gang unit, etc. Last week we went out to the firing range...

Now, I grew up in a house were we never had guns, never hunted, never ever talked about guns. I actually have a huge fear of guns (which I had to get over right away when everyone I work with has at least one on them).

So, last week I got to shoot my first gun! Actually 3 to be exact...What a RUSH! First was the shotgun. I was really surprised that the kickback was not as bad as I had always heard. Surprisingly, my aim was pretty good...if the target had a stomach...it doesn't anymore.

Next was an AR-15 rifle. This one had a little more kick than I expected, but still COOL!

Last was the Glock 22. It was pretty cool. Now, I am not going to run out and buy a gun, but I have to tell you...it was one of the most liberating experiences I have ever had. I finally feel like my fear is gone and my respect for what they can do has greatly increased.

Well, I know that the instructors took some pictures, so as soon as I have some, I will post.

Happy Friday!
